Tochatihu 11-02-2006, 04:46 PM I copy this directly from greenhybrid w/o asking Jason's permission:
"Hypermilers Requested for National Newspaper Interview

tbaleno 11-02-2006, 06:29 PM heh carsdirect
I wonder who owns them ;)
Chuck 11-02-2006, 06:48 PM I got so excited that I PMed Wayne about this without realizing who it was.
If they wanted to interview a hypermiler, they could start by making them more welcome at their forum. ;)

aka. come be a spokesperson for our company and not get paid.
Hi All:
___I DECLINED ;)
___Is there any Expert or Elite rated drivers over there anymore?
___Good Luck
___Wayne
Chuck 11-02-2006, 07:11 PM Wayne,
After I realized the source - I'm concerned if the interviewee would get a fair shake.
In other words, the guy at GH over two years ago that was interviewed only for the writer to diss hybrids for a NYC paper.
Hi Chuck:
___That was Mark (GreenandBlue), correct?
___Good Luck
___Wayne
Chuck 11-02-2006, 10:01 PM Don't recall his name but he stopped posting because he felt he betrayed hybrids. :(
philmcneal 11-03-2006, 02:46 AM i talked with the guy who owned 100mpg.ca he's going to try to get a fuel efficency invite event going (he says he has the power to do it :O) and Im going to be a part of it! Maybe I'll try to recruit some hypermilers around my area because I KNOW THEY EXSIT.... we just need to find them!
lakedude 11-03-2006, 03:44 AM Hi All:
___Is there any Expert or Elite rated drivers over there anymore?
What am I?
Hi Jason:
___Whoops, there is one ... of a few thousand. A needle in a haystack comes to mind :D
___Good Luck
___Wayne
psyshack 11-03-2006, 08:17 AM Hahahahahaha :)
tbaleno 11-03-2006, 08:34 AM So how come you aren't beating on them when they say stupid stuff about getting good mileage ;)
The problem is that GH isn't FE friendly. Jason even said he didn't want GH to be a FE site and discouraged talk about getting better mileage.
Thats why I don't talk much more than a couple of sentences when people ask about it.

Let's say there are three types of drivers:
Hypermilers
Sensible non-hypermilers - they don't speed too much, pay attention to what they are doing, etc.
Aggressive/inattentive drivers and those that insist on driving something oversized for their actual needs. They have had a shift on their site. Members in category #1 are shrinking - members in category #3 are expanding and getting more vocal, at times seeming to be favored, causing some to wonder if the name GH still fits. :(
lakedude 11-03-2006, 09:04 AM Jason (at GH) himself was never a hypermiler......
The 3 types of drivers (in order) are:
1) Those who get at or below EPA
2) Those who exceed EPA
3) Wayne.
lakedude 11-03-2006, 09:06 AM PS I have got onto people when they have posted garbage and was told to back off....in order to make the site more "friendly".

Hypermilers
Sensible non-hypermilers - they don't speed too much, pay attention to what they are doing, etc.
Aggressive/inattentive drivers and those that insist on driving something oversized for their actual needs. To be less tactful, #3 are gas guzzlers or those not serious about fuel economy. They hope for a hybrid that will be a silver bullet to great fuel economy inspite of their poor choices.
Most things in life require some effort to succeed in - good fuel economy is no exception.
It's sad when obsession with site activity takes a priority over truth.
Hi All:
___I think we should probably back this threads heat off a notch as I do not think GH needs the negative publicity. I am glad members of all the hybrid and hypermiling community drive hybrids for the most part because many could be driving something a lot worse. That would be the real tragedy for all our sakes :(
___Good Luck
___Wayne
