VW had and still has some of the best commercials - they should bring that one back, maybe have bin Laden in it (yeah, that would be edgy).

40/50mpg still looks pretty good in 2006 - just like it did in 1979. Yes, I know the tailpipe emissions were not that good and the EPA tests changed in 1985, but cars in general have not improved that much in fuel economy the last quarter century.

Too bad Volkswagen "Did it" but America didn't so much...
