08 HCH-II at xx psi above placard???
___Good Luck

LOL! I've seen mine do that at times.
Nice...

phoebeisis 10-03-2009, 01:34 PM How many PSI does it take to do that? At 42-45 psi mine won't even begin to approach that.

Right Lane Cruiser 10-03-2009, 02:14 PM My Insight will do that and I'm pretty sure you don't even want to know what I run in that car's tires. ;)
hobbit 10-03-2009, 05:40 PM Day-um. I'd go test mine if we had those sloped gullies
around here, which we generally don't.

My car does that and I don't want to shock anyone with the psi in my tires. I'll give a clue though: I like to consider the glass as half full.;):D
09Ranger2.3XL 10-03-2009, 08:06 PM I have 50 in mine & I bet they will do that..
Pics tomorrow to see if I'm right:D

And I bet your Tire Pressure Warning light is on too. :D

I hooked up the gauge and it read, "Hi Wayne!"

I don't normally park near ones like these and the ones I'm used to are shorter so that caught my eye.
And I bet your Tire Pressure Warning light is on too. :D
Thankfully the Honda engineers met Wayne/someone with his idea of proper pressures.
Kacey Green 10-03-2009, 11:44 PM now we can get a visual on why tread wear is even at higher pressures
nervousmini 10-06-2009, 06:34 AM I figured I would add my own David Blaine impersonation as well............

Hi All:
___I received an interesting phone call from Kacey earlier this afternoon describing an incident that brought his Midland’s Honda Hybrid back to earth in a catastrophic sort of way. Levitaiton no more!
___According to a report from the scene, while the HCH-II in question was on the way to Kacey's parents for Christmas, some kind of metal pin jumped out in front of one of his HCH-II’s rear tires and committed suicide!

___It is a good thing he knows how to work a jack and what a wonderful way to spend Christmas while on the side.
___Good Luck

Wear on the tire seems a bit uneven, much higher on the top edge in that picture than on the opposite side. An alignment might be in order.
Kacey Green 12-25-2009, 09:34 PM It was a front tire, the alignment was corrected at about 16k miles, damage done, it is the outside edge.
I'm not sure if they will repair it, I kinda hope so because the other 3 have plenty of life left with just 32k miles on the clock.
This was the first time a wheel has come off this car since it left the factory.
linx3566 12-28-2009, 11:37 AM With such extreme tire pressures, would that not have a negative effect on the car's suspension? I run mines at 40 psi and that is a concern for me also the ride is very rough. I am thinking of putting back down to 36psi. Any comments?
Hi Linx3566:
___Ever hit a pothole at 100 mph in anything? Your suspension was designed for it ;) I have never heard of anyone having a suspension problem as that is one area of a vehicle that is more than just "fairly" robust :) Over 500,000 miles of above the placard...
___Good Luck

Harold 12-28-2009, 01:16 PM That tire was probably on the back for the first 15000miles and rotated to the front? Camber issue? Hal
Mendel Leisk 12-29-2009, 11:47 AM In my experience higher pressures in the tires cause you to feel the bumps more. I'm sure firmer tires are causing more wear-and-tear on suspension components: a softer tire deflects more, transmits less of the impacts.
If you're concerned, I'd say play the balancing act: raise the pressures, but not too much. And take it easy, slow to a crawl going over speed bumps (I despise them!), watch out for depressed manhole lids, etc. We're running around 44 psi on our current all-weather Nokian WRG2's, and use similar pressure on our (still the OEM) summer Bridgestone Insignia Se200_02's.
That pressure does transmit the bumps though.

That was the first time a wheel was off the car since it left the factory in late 2008. There was an alignment issue that was both introduced and corrected within the first 10k miles.
