According to Audi, Norway is a country for driving efficiently thanks to little traffic and strict (read beautifully low ;)) speed limits. Even on the main north/south highway, the E6, there is little traffic. The road is narrow and winding but with maximum 50 mph speed limits, the pace and your blood pressure are both well under control :)

For Day 4, a brand new and second wave of Journalists from Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and Switzerland, as well as German customers of Audi made up the field. Two of these driver/navigators took the Audi A3 1.6L TDI to a very respectable 73.5 mpgUS while the Audi A4 2.0 TDI e pulled a decent 58.8 mpgUS over the 324 mile distance between Trondheim and Oslo.

The high-performance models proved their worth as the new drivers took the Audi Q7 3.0 and V12 TDI to Oslo at 31.4 mpgUS 26.1 mpgUS respectively.

Back to the drive

The world’s driving roads cannot possibly exclude the E6. Over the previous two days, the participants were able to enjoy the fjord landscapes and the national parks. And on Friday from Trondheim to Oslo, we were met once more with picture postcard scenery on both sides of the highway.

Water and rock are an integral part of the landscape called Norway which was framed by barren fjell land - hilly plateaus with a multitude of small lakes on which it is too cold to support forestation. The scenery remains mostly green while here and there, small trees soften the landscape. The surrounding mountains rise to over 6,400 feet with summits covered by small glaciers.

After just 96 miles, the group stopped for lunch at Kongsvold Fjeldtue, a historic hotel consisting of wooden cabins dating back to 1770.

Towards evening, the road gets busier and slower moving as the group approached Oslo for their nightly stop.

Later today, the drivers will see take on over 387 miles of picturesque roadway from Oslo through Sweden and onto Copenhagen, Denmark.
