Dennis xcel 10-24-2006, 08:31 PM Hi Dennis: ___All I can say is that I use every tool in the tool box when and where applicable maybe 80 - 85% of the time. That 80 + % rises and falls of course but I would say that ~ percentage of the time, I am actively pushing her to her limits when the opportunities arise. 80 + % may not seem like a lot but tomorrow when driving to work, try and keep a running total in your head when you are actively running the speed limits in a RR while DWB, P&G when that opportunity arises, moving into and out of the various types of drafts as they appear, DWL with each and every overpass, hill, or short climb, actively maintaining a scan of your instruments, trying to calculate glide distances for a given temp and traffic conditions within heavy traffic and lights etc ... ___The Accord (34 highway) is a decent highway cruiser right off the bat as maintaining > 48 mpg’s on the highway may be a touch easier then maintaining 72 driving the same in the Prius (similar % above EPA) but in the city, I have to work my butt off for it :( ___Good Luck ___Wayne philmcneal 10-25-2006, 05:04 AM on the highway may be a touch easier then maintaining 72 driving the same in the Prius (similar % above EPA) but in the city, I have to work my butt off for it I can totally vouch for that! Your only getting 72 mpg if your driving 80 km/h I find its hard to find the right foot pressure, so I lazy out and use cruise control. Although cruise control surprised me quite a bit! I didn't realize it would deadband to maintain speed ;) although its very casual on how it takes and gives away from the battery. It makes me wonder if CC is really the only option for this car when on flat land... what bugs me is that the gas gauge teases you! the first digital "blip" takes so long to dissapear (150 km for me) and then the 2nd one is gone within 50 km!!! I guess it really wants to make that good first impression before the real numbers show... well it'll take me awhile but it should be an interesting first tank. xcel 10-25-2006, 05:18 AM Hi Phil: ___A touch OT but you own a Prius I now? I thought I read someone asking you that a week or two ago. Why not introduce your own little beauty to the rest of us in the introduction forum? Congratulations and I want not only a mini-review from your perspective but some pics too :) ___Good Luck and congrats on a fine hybrid all your own! ___Wayne dcoyne78 10-26-2006, 01:36 PM Wayne, You are being modest with the 48 MPG, from 6/25 to 8/9 you got 57 MPG over 4000+ miles which would be like 85 MPG in a Prius I haven't even managed 85 MPG over one full tank when staying off the interstate.
