http://www.youtube.com/v/TDeINgS9GlU&hl=en&fs=1Wayne Gerdes - CleanMPG (cleanmpg.com) - Sept. 21, 2009

Three waves, nine legs, 20 vehicles, 120 drivers and 2,593 miles.

Starting Sept. 22, 2009, you to get to experience how much efficiency comes standard in every Audi.

Efficiency is the intelligent use of every single drop of fuel through the targeted application of the latest technology.

The tour starts in the far North of Europe, in Norway at the village of A on the archipelago of the Lofots and Leads through eight countries to Bee at the Lago Maggiore in the North of Italy.

The drivers will experience just how much efficiency comes standard with every single Audi.

The next question is, can you ;)

What's their opinion on drafting? It seems there was an awful lot of that going on last time the words Audi, Fuel Economy, and Challenge came together.

I still say we need to bring back the Mobil Economy Challenge.

Competition breeds excellence.

If car companies had to compete once or twice a year to prove their cars efficiency they would actually do something instead of flapping their lips about how efficient their cars are. What is Chevrolet's ad promo, 8 of our cars get 30 mpg or more. Really?

Put up of shut up. How about a cross country jaunt from New York to Los Angeles and back again to prove it. Then stopping along the way in various cities for a few City mileage competitions.

The last thing any manufacture would want is to either come up with an excuse for why they didn't want to do it, or come in dead last in their class.

You can cook the EPA numbers by tuning the car for the EPA test. Lets see you do that for a cross country economy race with time limits between stages.

Hi All:

___Although I do not have any results just yet (I doubt they have even covered a half a tank on any of the Audi’s), I did find an introduction and arrival vid some might enjoy?

Hi Kurz:

___Me too ;)

___At last years Audi Mileage Marathon, there were time limits so everyone had to move awfully fast. And of course we have all of the pics of the yahoos drafting at Nascar level distance... With that, I was watching the Audi 1.6L TDI A3's in real time via GPS track very early this morning and both were averaging in the 38 - 40 mph range (speed lmiits just under 50 mph) so this time Audi let the group push for FE instead of some kind of race. I really belive they are looking for 30% above the NEDC on this one but I would be guessing.

___I will try and get up another article for day 2 as I find this kind of motor sport not only entertaining but one of the few I can morally support.

___Good Luck

___Wayne
