The battery capacity has not been announced yet, but it can be fully charged from a 230 V supply in just over 1.5 hours. Toyota plans to build 500 of these lithium battery Priuses starting late this year for leasing to fleets in Japan, the United States and Europe. Retail customers won't get their turn until about 2012.

That's a long charge time for such a short AER

Perhaps it is forced out of EV mode by the computer?
Like most hybrids they like to stay in range of SOC.

I agree, 20 kms (12.5 miles) is not very far. Even thou if I lived closer to work like I used to I could get there with only 3 km on the ICE.

Personally interesting - my work is 6 miles round trip!

Currently 25 for me, I'll see if that changes at any point

I can't wait for the OEM plug in.
