I was hoping to hear from other 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid owners. What are your MPG per tank like? What have you done to help improve your MPG personally?

Since we are in the sedan class I dont really expect to be getting the incredible numbers like the insight and such. I do think we can crush the EPA estimates though!

I have had my 2010 MMH (Mercury Milan Hybrid) for a week now and got 40.2 mpg on the first tank and am currently getting 38.2 on the second. I was planning on over-inflating the tires a bit but then was told that the dealer put nitrogen in them since it's better for the tire pressure monitoring system. I've been trying all the usual tricks that worked on my '96 Infiniti and they don't seem to make that much of a difference so far with the MMH.

I've had my FFH 5 weeks and have a lifetime avg of 41.4 MPG based on fuel I've purchased. I've improved a lot on the current tank with the normal drive to and from work averaging more than 50 mpg consistently.

My trouble is that my wife likes to stick to the interstate when she's in the car and that is dragging down the mpg about 0.5 mpg, which is still nothing to sneeze at. On top of that, she wants the A/C on too. (lol) Who would have thought it made that much difference? (It does.)

My best improvements have been made with learning to keep the battery charged by driving farther on the engine with better efficiency. I can average 50 mpg on the engine with a smooth road surface that is flat. If you can keep the battery in a higher state of charge, I think the chances improve of taking advantage of the hybrid to maximize mpg when the opportunity presents itself.

When I first got the FFH I was always wanting to force the battery on with an accelerator blip, but now I've learned the better mpg comes from the engine and battery working in tandem and not so much the battery alone.

The accelerator blip is not for forcing the battery On, it's to restart the engine from battery power without the automatic high drain of the battery by the computer. What I've found is that carrying around any where near a full SoC in the Ford battery pack is like carrying around added weight that is not needed. The prius and Honda hybrids may work differently but the Ford hybrid system seems to work best for me with a low battery SoC. Ford has even changed the '09 FEH programming along the lines of my driving style from my '05 FEH techniques.

I am getting 41-42/mpgs doing mostly 50% city/50% hwy driving.
Had the car about 1 month now, not even trying too hard

What surprised me most is consisten 44mpgs on the highway,
well above the rating.

Hi,

I just picked up a Sterling Grey 2010 FFH with the 502a package.

Today I drove from Miami to Key Largo and back. About 60 miles each way, with the A/C, the NAV and the radio on. Based on my calculations I got about 40 MPG for the trip. Not bad at all considering the car has a total of 300 miles on the odometer.

It is currently showing 30.2 MPG lifetime. I do expect this number to improve.
