The mighty 2009 BMW R 1200 RT was named Best Touring Bike for 2009 with the F 800 GS (in the background) winning everything else ;)

On the heels of receiving three prestigious awards for the BMW F 800 GS from America’s top U.S. motorcycle magazines, BMW Motorrad USA was awarded four more honors from Motorcycle.com, a leading motorcycle enthusiast web site reaching 75,000 subscribers.

In its first annual Motorcycle.com “Best Of “ awards, BMW Motorrad’s R 1200 RT was named Best Touring Bike for 2009. The BMW K 1300 GT was named Best Sport Touring Bike, while the F 800 ST was given an Honorable Mention for Best Sport Touring Bike; and the F 800 GS captured its fourth award of the year, being named Best On-Off Road Bike.

Earlier this year, the BMW F 800 GS was named 2009 “Motorcycle of the Year” by Rider Magazine, “Best Dual-Sport Bike” for 2009 from Cycle World, and Motorcyclist’s “Best Adventure Bike” for 2009.

“We are delighted to receive these prestigious awards for several of our motorcycles in one year,” commented Pieter de Waal, Vice President, BMW Motorrad USA. “It is a true credit to BMW’s legacy of excellence in the design, technology and production of versatile motorcycles that meet the evolving needs of today’s riders.”

Wayne, I really did like that R12000RT. It's a nice ride. (That's my blue riding suit and red duffle bag on the bike.)

Chris,

This was part of "Wayne and Harry's Big Adventure." Alas, we had to turn the bikes back in to BMW Motorrad.

The pic was taken by the Fire Island Lighthouse on Long Island.

I do still have an '03 BMW R1150RT at home, and it's still a decent bike, although not as nice as the newest model.

Harry
