It has been over a week now since I got my FFH and I am very pleased. I am still getting the hang of it but I must say I am very impressed with the mileage I am getting.

On a recent trip I drove 105.5 miles, mostly highway at 65 with CC on and AC on. I got 43.9MPG for that leg. I got 41.8MP on the return with a passenger, 4 suitcases and driving 70 or so without using the CC much (I was late for a softball game and needed to get back home).

I can routinely get 55MPG around town on short trips and have hit 65 on several occasions.

I have found that if I plan my trips and leave giving myself enough time to get to my destination that I can easily get 45MP almost anywhere not really trying to extend the MPG other than coasting and keeping to the posted speed limit.

I have read on these forums about using neutral to coast in and to increase the MPG. Has anyone tried this with a FFH? I am a little scared of doing this as I do not know what effect it will have on the transmission/electric motor.

Coasting in N works great for the fusion. This was posted by a fellow member and ffh owner. He was bumped up from 51mpg to 53mpg if I remember correctly.

I've been coasting in neutral with the Ford eCVT since '05 in my '05 FEH and '09 FEH this past year. No problems at all because it's a programming issue that eliminates regen braking which lets the traction motor freewheel with the gears. The Ford eCVT in the FFH and FEH was designed to be flat towed in neutral with all 4 wheels on the road and can be a TOAD pulled behind an RV. The eCVT is designed to pick-up transmission fluid and circulate it without a separate pump. The new Ford 6 speed automatic in the Ford gas versions was also designed to be flat towed in neutral and no pump is needed to circulate transmission fluid either. Neutral gliding will improve all the way to 15,000 miles during break-in and is the best way I know to improve mileage in my FEH and I know it will do the same in the FFH.

Thanks for the info guys. I may have to try some coasting in neutral and see what results I get.
