I just don't understand the insane cell phone usage folks have. The addiction is above me I guess. and I've fought addiction in my life.

$100k deals don't mean I talk on a cell. I pull over or skate over the top of there BS on hands free and tell them I will call them back. The responce more times than not is there will be a detailed e-mail for me when I get back to the office. More times than not,,, it's very well written with no info!

I waste more time with e-mail and cell calls it's not funny. It seems everybody is so busy you can't get them to give correct info! It's nuts! It's like it's all a hack,,, and all they want is the log. Then it becomes a he said she said cluster and everybody is wasting time on there call logs and e-mail DB's. It's freaking stupid.

I keep an old discard in the console, but I've never had a cell plan. 911 works fine without one.

At the end of the video, where it says Cell phone use accounts for 6% of all crashes, I started thinking.....6%? That's not that much. But then I started thinking about how many crashes 6% is.....and then the next page tells me that's 636,000 crashes...I said holy s#$%!

Forgot how many crashes there are :/

If someone is talking on a phone but not driving what I consider dangerous, I let it go. But if I see someone swerving or drifting in other lanes, or especially texting, I hold down my horn until they stop it.

I totally agree the using a Cell Phone is dangerous, but I would also like to see stats on having two people in the car, talking. I notice I drive less safely when there is someone else in the car, especially a child. If that causes more crashes than driving alone, what sort of precedent will banning cell phones make. It is a strange world, though I don't mind controlling risks when it is possible to do so.

Mmm, maybe this is just the latest witch hunt?

I think most any activity in a car can be distracting and instrumental in a crash, if you let it monopolize your attention. Searching through radio stations is something else that comes to mind. Anything of this nature should just be kept to a minumum, and while doing something like this you need to exercise additional caution and attention to the road, if that makes any sense. I don't think legislation will help, or is practical, and it will likely just become another cash cow for lawyers.

FWIW, I don't have a cell phone.

Talking on a cell phone is considerably more dangerous than talking to someone else in the car. When the other person is physically, the conversation naturally ebbs and flows with the situation on the road.

I was listening to a CBC radio discussion moments ago, and they said just that. Good point.

One thought, I would hate like hell to be on the phone with someone when they're driving, and have them crash.
