Don't care what's on it as long as you have one with no olives or anchovies.

Hey Jud,

Just wanted to let you know I'll be at the meetup tomorrow. I didn't rsvp before because my wife and I had tentative plans to go visit my folks in Arkansas, but since I have to be here for a sleep study (I just found out I have sleep apnea), those plans fell through.

I'll probably get there around 12:30. See you then.

Take care,
Charlie

PS I tried sending you a private message, but apparently your folder's full.

The meet-up started at about 11:00 AM and lasted until 3:00

All totaled we had about 30 people come. Not everyone stayed the entire time, as some came for a while and had to leave, and others came a little later and stayed to the end.

First we had a meet and greet

Lunch was provided by Beechnont Toyota.

Then the Prius tech gave a presentation and answered questions. He was followed by Steve Woodruff of Autobeyours.com and Jay Groh

Lastly we had a Fuel Ecomony Challenge.

Here are some pics.

I took the Leisurely Wander on the way home from this one as
I often do, and made the final shot to home yesterday. On the
Wall Of Shame from the overall Cincy run, we have
.

Grandview Enterprises, out of Vancouver WA
River Valley paper company; for a great near-death experience in Akron OH
Celadon trucking (http://techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/pix/misc/090810/76celadon.jpg); can't wait 5 more seconds to reach a rest area
R.I. Lampus, concrete block supplier; driver on phone for quite a while
Averitt Express (http://techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/pix/misc/090810/010averitt.jpg)
Protection One (http://techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/pix/misc/090810/015protone.jpg), some local security-installer company
Dempsey Uniforms (http://techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/pix/misc/090810/016dempsey.jpg); aggressive step-van near Scranton
Churnetski bus company (http://techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/pix/misc/090810/017hanoschool.jpg), contractors for Hanover school district
Eastern Communications, Bloomfield CT; butthead work-truck late in the day
Pottle's, from Bangor ME; rather, uh, "spirited" behavior on I-84

.
None of these were due to any kind of provocation or inaction on my part;
apparently minding my own business at the speed limit in the right lane
isn't good enough for some people. At least one of these clowns is
likely looking for a new *career* at this point, let alone a new job.
.
In addition, we have a couple of honorable mentions:
.

Lavazza Coffee, for the weakest AND most expensive I've ever had on the road
Mass Turnpike authority, for horrendous toll-plaza layouts

.
On the good side, we have
.

TDDS Tech (http://techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/pix/misc/090810/962studenttrk.jpg); a great rest-stop conversation with one of their instructors
Arrow Trucking, from Tulsa OK; exemplary mellowness on I-80

.
Again, the people in charge of safety at many of these companies WANT
to hear the reports from the road, good or bad, because they have no
other way of knowing what's going on out there. Maybe as trucking
companies and their employees and other enterprises that include
supposedly "professional" drivers start realizing that people have
cell phones, PDAs that provide the "internet in your pants", and fast
cameras with image-stabilization, they'll realize that they're under
a lot more public scrutiny than they might expect.

Bummer on the Lavazza. I usually look for that name as it is a robust cup. It shouldn't have been priced "d'Oro" though.

I was looking through some of these old posts and was very surprised to see that this meet was within a couple of miles of where we go when we visit my daughter's boyfriend and his parents; they live on Meadowland. In fact, we usually stay at the Best Western on Williams Drive. I have driven the route of the mpg challenge and it is quite FE friendly in the Prius.:) If I remember right, there is one uphill climb that's a bit challenging but the rest of it is awesome! Too bad Beechmont can't be avoided a bit more too.;) Jud, we gotta hook up next time I'm down there. I'll have my 8KW Enginer kit in by then too.:)
