Thanks guys. If it wasn't for Wayne letting me try out the one he was driving a few weeks ago I may have bought something else.

It was showing it's age believe me. When I had it over at my mechanics on Sunday afternoon for six hours swapping parts out I saw lots of additional rust problems that were going to need to be addressed. It would have needed at least $2,000 worth of work to keep it on the road another two years or so. Lucky I was able to help some people out letting them swap out their worn out parts for better newer parts in my car. One guy swapped out his blown AC compressor for my good one. It looked like the blues-mobile when I rolled into the dealer. Snow tires on rusty steel wheels with small moon hub caps.
We put on the factory sway bar and removed the after market chassis braces and larger sway bars the handling with snow tires was very interesting. The wagons came from the factory with no rear sway bar.

Congratulations!

This might seem like an unusual question: is the new car smell subdued?

Couple of years ago, an article said the new plastic was not green...maybe it's less on the Prius.

That is so cool that you were able to rescue some of the parts and help out some Volvo owners.

There should be a system for that type of recycling. Put your name on a local web list with the type of cars your looking for and if any "clunkers" get turned in you can go to that holding yard within the next week to remove the parts you need.

Of course it may interfere with the intend reduction of other clunkers on our highways but at least it's not wasteful in the sense of throwing away good parts.

You did a good thing, too bad Geo Metro's don't make the cut for trade-ins, I'd be pulling parts for days. :D - Dale

Yeah, nice color. Also, pretty amazing difference in aerodynamics: the Volvo looks like an attache case with wheels.

Not to hijack the thread here, but if I make the Cincy gathering
I might be hangin' around the Squirrel Hill area for a couple
of days afterward...
.
Oh, and I took my '04 up your infamous Canton Ave the other week,
and got a couple of pix. Said to be the steepest street in the
US. Not in San Fran!
