Chevrolet Volt scheduled to appear.

Are you interested in driving a cleaner, quieter car that averages 100 miles per gallon or more? Like the idea of plugging in your car at home to get local all-electric driving range? Eager to lower your fuel costs and help protect the planet by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and smog-forming emissions?

If so, then consider the Plug-In 2009 Conference & Exposition Public Night, taking place Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Long Beach Convention Center, Hall A (300 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach).

For a $10 per person fee (tickets must be purchased at the door), attendees can visit the exhibit hall to see plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles and related technology, and then participate in a lively panel discussion about the public's role in helping bring these vehicles to market. Here is the Aug. 11 schedule:

Exposition hall open: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Vehicles scheduled for display include the Chevy Volt, Ford 550 Plug-In Hybrid Truck, Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid, Plug-In Toyota Prius and more. (Vehicles on displays subject to change.)

Discussion on Plug-In Hybrid and Electric Vehicles: Getting the Message Out: 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Panel members will discuss their adventures in crafting educational and entertaining messages about plug-in technology, and what the public can do to help shape a plugged-in future.

Speakers:
Mark Duvall (moderator), director, electric transportation, Electric Power Research Institute
Peter Horton, writer/director, Grey's Anatomy and The Philanthropist.
Bill Nye, "The Science Guy"
Chris Paine, director, Who Killed the Electric Car? and Revenge of the Electric Car
Chelsea Sexton, founder, The Lightning Rod Foundation and former General Motors EV1 specialist

Incidentally, this is precisely the question I answered by purchasing my Insight last year. ;)

I'd love to go to this presentation -- I hope someone can get good coverage of the event!!

The reason I cant go is....

1. All ready use my vacation time at work this year.
2. If I did have vacation time other people in my department are taking vacation. Our department is all ready under staffed so when someone goes on vacation someone else is getting overtime. The hospital is cutting back on everything. We dont even get raises this year but we still get a bonus.
3. I hate driving. I love driving my Prius but not for long periods of time.
4. It would take me a week to get to the other side of the country. ( mostly because I would have to stop and see everything on the way there.
5. Love to fly but too expensive.
