2010 Lexus HS 250h – 35 mpgUS combined and prices expected to start at $35,000 in the US.
Tokyo, Japan -- Lexus launched the HS 250h (its first dedicated hybrid model) in Japan with minimal fanfare and seemingly low sales expectations. Projections of just 500 units per month are being forecast.
Priced from $42,083 to $56,999 including Japan specific Consumption taxes.
Based on the Lexus’ penchant for "pursuing the essence of luxury", the HS 250h targets the luxury car buyer with a "harmonious sedan", hence the "HS" in the vehicle's name. Not only does the HS give its owner high fuel economy and low emissions but exudes the high quality and advanced technology that Lexus is renowned for.
The HS250h combines driving performance with a hybrid-system that achieved 54 mpgUS on the exceptionally light driving cycles (Japan 10-15). Additionally, the HS includes many interior parts made from Ecological Plastic, a plant-based plastic that reduces environmental impact, for interior parts and components.
Lexus’ HS250h is scheduled for North American availability in September 2009.
