I guess I should introduce myself. I send most of my time on gassavers.org but I have lurked on this site for a while. I drive a 92 saturn sl2 auto. My lifetime mpg is 32. I have averaged 35 recently. I am looking for a new car because my saturn is getting old/falling apart.

Thanks for introducing yourself. You looking for new/used? BTW, do you use any of the techniques we talk about? Diamondlary (also a gassavers.org guy) has done wonders with his saturn. As you probably know, he bought another saturn and is doing great with it. He would definately be the guy to talk to should you consider another Saturn.

Yes I almost always drive with efficiency in mind (I FAS the auto). I am just looking for something cheap manual 4 cyl (under a 2.0L).
Here is my milage log:

Hey KFJr -- welcome over to CMPG. Thare are lots of driving techniques to absorb here. The news articles are great, and the mlieage log is very detailed. The Hybrid competition was sponsored by this site and ended up with 164 mpg in an Insight over about 2250 mi.
Enjoy the info!

Hi Kickflipjr:
___Welcome indeed! I think I remember seeing your handle back in the GH days? Maybe I am thinking of someone who owned an FEH? Either way, welcome aboard and I hope you find that fantastic I4 you are looking for. Tom has already mentioned Larry who is kicking the hell out of the EPA in his MT based Saturn’s and if it is just the body that is falling apart, holding on to what you have may be the best overall solution? If it is the mechanicals, then you are probably doing the right thing by looking for a replacement.
___You may have already read the following article but if you have not, it may give you a leg up on the rest of the world. YMMV however …
What if you cannot afford a “new” fuel efficient automobile? This may help. (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=665)
___Good Luck

I have been on greenhybrid a few times (but it you must be thinking of someone else). It's time for a new car trust me. Nice link xcel.
I already test drove a 99 metro and a 95 accent. But they were both worn out more then I would of liked.

Welcome kickflipjr! It's nice to see some more Saturn's.:p I'm a bit partial but, I would suggest looking for another used Saturn if you like them. I paid $2800 for my '99 SL2 that had ~95,000 miles on it. Of course, it's not stock anymore either but it shows that they have a lot of potential locked up in them. I don't have any personal experience with Honda's but they are a pretty good choice, especially the ones with lean-burn.

Alot of my knowledge came from my bike riding (I am a frequent rider and went all the way across iowa this summer). The only thing i don't do is P&G mainly because it is too much trouble in an auto tranny.
