Hey, all. I was wondering if there was a way to download the FE log for my car? It might be interesting to poke at it a bit with Excel or some such. Is there any better way than grabbing the HTML source or "select all/copy/paste"? I looked for a bit and didn't see anything obvious (to me).

Yeah I don't think there is. I know on fuelly.com they let you export your data to a spreadsheet. I've been using that one for a while now but I'd like to import the data here if I could.

Hi, Dave -- there isn't a way currently to download the info but I'm considering ways to allow that.
Uploading is a completely different matter as I'd have to put in some strict guidelines on what can be uploaded and how. It is unlikely I'll write an interface for that one as the potential for damage to our DB is too high.

OK.
I wound up selecting the table data in my browser, then copying that and pasting into a text editor. I used that to remove the extra line feeds (between "Edit" and "Delete"). Then I imported that as a CSV file (using white-space as the delimiter) into my spreadsheet.
The process was a little clumsy, but it worked just fine.

Hey, Dave... check out the topmost navy bar when viewing logs for a name or a particular vehicle. Look right in the middle of it. ;)
(Yes, it honors whatever sorting and units you have selected before clicking the link.)

Easiest way i have found is: 4 steps
1 Copy from the Web log.
2 Paste in Excel.
3 Highlight and Copy from Excel.
4 Paste into Excel using "Paste Special" and select values only.
at that point you will have Excel data you can easily sort, or....
you need the 1st excel paste to get excel to properly divide it among the sells.
then copy that,
2nd paste removes all the HTML junk.
to get paste special Right click where you want to paste and select it from the pop up right click menu.

Oh, sunuva.... I thought there was a way, but then I couldn't find it. Now that you point it out, it's... Well, it's quite obvious!!

I just tried it out, but it's giving me an empty spreadsheet. There's 27 rows of empty cells with borders.
