Aspiring-Champion Racecar Lightning McQueen is on the fast track to success, fame, and everything he’s hoped for – until he takes an unexpected detour on dusty Route 66. His have-it-all-now attitude is thrown into a tailspin when a small-town community that time forgot shows McQueen what he’s been missing in his high-octane life …

CARS (http://adisney.go.com/disneypictures/cars/main.html)

After taking moviegoers magically into a realm of toys, bugs, monsters, fish, and superheroes, the masterful storytellers and technical wizards at Pixar Animation Studios (“The Incredibles”, “Finding Nemo”, “Monsters Inc.”) and Academy Award winning director John Lasseter (“Toy Story”, “Toy Story 2”, “A Bug’s Life”), hit the road with a fast-paced comedy adventure set inside the world of cars. Lightning McQueen ( voice of Owen Wilson), a hotshot rookie race car driven to succeed, discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. On route across the country to he big Piston Cup Championship in California to compete against two seasoned pros, McQueen gets to know the towns offbeat characters – including Sally (a snazzy 2002 Porsche voiced by Bonnie Hunt), Doc Hudson (a 1951 Hudson Hornet with a mysterious past, voiced by Paul Newman), and Master (a rusty but trusty tow truck voiced by Larry the Cable Guy) – who help him realize that there are more important things then trophies, fame, and sponsorship. The al-star vocal cast also includes free-wheeling performances by racing legend Richard Petty and Cheech Marin. Fueled with plenty of humor, action, heartfelt drama, and amazing technical feats, CARS is a high octane delight for movie goers of all ages.

Director: John Lasseter
Producer: Darla K. Anderson

Voice Talents: Paul Newman, Owen Wilson, Bonnie Hunt, “Larry the Cable Guy”, Cheech Marin, George Carlin, Richard Petty, Michael Keaton, Tony Shalhoub, John Ratzenberger, Michael Wallis, Paul Dooley, Jenifer Lewis.

Hi Phil:

___I doubt it will have anything of the sort but as with most Pixar pictures; it will be entertaining if nothing else. This movie in particular as those of us that are rabid car enthusiasts will just have to go and see it even if it will filled with sappy visuals and dialog ;)

PS: What do you think of the types of news I have been posting as of late anyway? I have broken off CleanMPG’s mission path a few times just to add some life to the site. I thought this story was too cute to pass up :D

___Good Luck

anything related to fuel economy, cars, or pieces that talk or teaches anything about autos is good enough for my book.

Keep it up! Some of us still go to the movies together as a family.

Hi All:

___I have to bump this one as it is by far the best movie of the year. Not that I see a lot of movies or am much of a critic (when discussing movies that is ;)) but most of us are car enthusiasts of some sort or another and if you are, YOU HAVE TO GO SEE THIS MOVIE! This one is a winner :D

___Good Luck and enjoy the show!

Saw it with my niece, nephew and family yesterday. Didn't spot any hybrids, but there might be one hidden in there in the mix of camera crews and the like.

Elsewhere I have floated the idea of a "drive for mpg" video game, primarily directed at the young ones. Perhaps here at CleanMPG there are people who would like to develop this idea a bit further.

Yeah, at the very end of the movie during the credits roll, an old Military Jeep is giving off-roading lessons to a bunch of pumped out SUV's who claim to have never touched dirt before. I thought it was cute. Overall it was a really good movie, even for grown-ups.

I missed that part. :(

Best line: "Are you driving to make good time or driving to have a good time" (that could be our slogan :) )

Best cameo appearance: When the current Kalifornee Governor in his unmistakable vehicle and accent issues the directive: "He must be recovered at all costs" :D

I loved the anti-spoiled jock theme (Terrill Owens comes to mind)

It's well worth seeing and like classic cartoons, it has a kid's level and an Adult level (famous people's voices....).

I often drive from Dallas to Colorado on US Hwy 287, and believe me, there are plenty of ghost towns like the one in the movie, esp. between Wichta Falls and Amarillo, Texas.

I could get in trouble for this next remark: I thought of Leahbeetle as the attorney - probably would have done the same thing....

Like the tire brandname: Lightyear (but that's another Pixar film.... :D )

Question: Early in the movie, did I hear Click and Clack of "Caaar Talk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_Talk)?" :D
