2009 Ford Mondeo Econetic - $33,016 USD and 43 mpgUS combined on the NEDC allowing an unheard of 800-mile range.

Brentwood, Essex, UK. -- Ford is introducing a new and hyper efficient 113 HP, 2.0L turbo-diesel to the Mondeo lineup broadening Ford’s lineup of vehicles that receive better than 43 mpgUS combined on the NEDC.

The new Ford Mondeo ECOnetic is offered in either a four door sedan or 5-door hatch equipped with the highly efficient 2.0L and 6-speed manual transmissions without sacrificing practicality or driving quality.

The 2.0L TDCi engine achieves 43 mpgUS combined and 51.4 mpgUS on the highway per the NEDC allowing an incredible OEM 800 mile cruising range.

Additional ECOnetic features include low-rolling resistance tires, optimum gear change indicator, plus aerodynamics-enhancing sports suspension, air deflectors and a rear spoiler.

Additionally, the Mondeo offers dual-zone automatic climate control, BluetoothTM connectivity with voice control, cruise control, seven airbags and Quickclear heated front windscreen.

ESP with Traction Assist and Emergency Brake Assist complete a standard features list that ensures Mondeo ECOnetic is as safe as it is efficient.

The new Mondeo ECOnetic not only allows it to be received by a greater number of company fleets but ensure the lowest tax in its class.

The everyday consumer will find the Ford Mondeo ECOnetic easy on the pocket, with its high fuel economy qualifying it a Band E and taxes of $197 USD per year.

“Running costs are driving purchase decisions, but customers do not want to compromise to achieve low ownership costs,” explains Mondeo brand manager, Jon Gunn-Smith. “More people than ever are recognizing that ECOnetic delivers the right balance for them – and more Mondeo customers have opted for ECOnetic in the first five months of 2009, than in the whole of 2008.”

The Ford Mondeo 2.0-litre ECOnetic is on sale now, priced from $33,066 USD on-the-road.

A great car, but would not sell at $33k. The larger 4cyl accord starts at 21k.
I could see walking out the door with a loaded Mondeo (HIDs, Bluetooth, everything but Nav) for 25k.

Hi Rich:

___The much smaller Euorpean Accord (TSX here) starts at $34,790 in the UK so it would sell even less...

___Good Luck

Compare to the fully loaded Fusion Hybrid that sells for 27k. I agree about the price, but it would likely have an adjustment if it came here. Seeing as the FFH is here already, I doubt it ever will come, though. They'd be competing too much.

It looks like a really nice piece of engineering. However, the $33k price tag seems a little steep when you compare it to the FFH and the TCH (both about $5k less). I sure do like the 43 MPG part though!

The price listed has been directly converted from the UK "on the road price" I believe, which includes the massive 15% sales tax (VAT) on top of it. That also includes the UK registration fees also. In the US it would probably sell for about 29K

And yeah, you guys DESPERATELY need the econetic range, and goodness knows why Ford aren't taking their Euro lineup to the states because they're some of the best cars around right now and would be VERY successful! Sure the new Fiesta has a few "teething problems" as owners have put it, but they're extremely economical and well worth the money.
