Well, I'm new here but have been lurking long enough to begin hypermiling my various vehicles. I started with a '90 Chevy Van and have had limited luck getting it to pull down decent numbers due to the very short commute I have to work. On the Highway it'll get 18mpg easily by keeping the speed in the 60 mph zone. In town it gets about 13-14 mpg. I have not tried FAS but do a lot of DWB and DWL. I'm not driving it much lately as I just bought a '08 Jeep Liberty 4X4. I've only run a couple of tanks through it and got 16.5 first tank and 18.5 second tank. I wasn't even trying hard so I'm pretty happy and looking forward to my first road trip in it. I also recently bought an '07 Dodge Magnum 3.5 for my wife. It is getting 20 mpg in town and we got 27 mpg on a recent trip to Corpus. This is an improvement from the 16-24 mpg we were getting from our '97 Plymouth Voyager with 180K miles on it. So we're making progress and with the good info from this forum we are looking for even better. Sure this mpg is nothing compared to what some of you are getting in your smaller cars but as my name suggests, I like a good bit of room. LOL

Check and double check to be sure any of those vehicles can be FAS'd, if they can't you're gonna hurt their transmission. Check the manuals and look for something that says the car can be towed on all 4 wheels.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes, I've not tried FAS due to the auto trannies in these vehicles however I do occasionally turn the engine off in drive through lines. I also look for oportunities to park facing out. Lots of good advice here and I'm teaching my family after I've figured out some of the techniques. I'm considering getting a Scangauge as none of my vehicles have a mileage computer.

I highly recommend the Scangauge. Especially with more thirsty vehicles, it'll pay for itself in a matter of months.
