So I just filled up my new to me 2003 Civic Hybrid Manual for the first time yesterday. The trip meter that I used for the tank said I was averaging 62 MPG, but when I filled up my calculation came to 55.647. I was expecting some difference, but not this much. I was wondering how big of a difference other owners of this car see between what is displayed and reality.
When I got the car the tank was 3/4 full and I topped it off and reset the trip from there. Its possible there was crappy/old gas in the tank. I also believe the only gas I can get is E-10, although they don't have to tell us under law here so there's no real way of knowing.

That's a bit large for normal variance, IIRC. Laurie -- what do you usually see in yours?

Mr. Pancake,

After over 64k miles, the display on our 05 HCHI always is 6-7% higher than the calculated value. What I have found is that the speedometer is also off.

Well, I just changed the oil to see if that may have been a contributing factor. There was a motorcraft oil filter on it so I'm thinking the Ford dealership I bought it from must have changed the oil; maybe they didn't use the proper weight or maybe their version of 0w-20 isn't as good as Honda's. I used Mobil 0w-20, its the easiest for me to get without ordering online or going to the Honda dealership and paying a lot.

You should be in good shape with Mobil 1. :)
