2009 European Ford Fiesta Econetic – 63 mpgUS combined on the NEDC and a whole lot less expensive today than last month for those trading in high emission and poor FE 10-year old automobiles.
Brentwood, Essex – The UK’s market leader, Ford has taken more than 3,000 extra orders from customers in the new car market, thanks to the Government's vehicle scrappage incentive.
Customers are considering the largely positive benefits from the plan have been placing large number of orders with Ford dealers since the scrappage incentives were announced last month. Vehicle deliveries under the plan begin tomorrow.
Motorists are attracted by Ford's supplementary offers on top of the Government incentive which have reduced the price of the sought-after Ford Fiesta to $12,389 USD. Ford’s Focus, the UK's most popular new car last month, becomes $15,489 USD to customers replacing vehicles 10 years old or older.
Scrappage incentives bring the new Ford Ka to just $9,298 USD while the Ford Fusion (not to be confused with the US’ much larger Fusion) starts at $13,552 USD for motorists replacing pre-September 1999 vehicles. The Ford Mondeo is available for under $19,991 USD.
"Ford is putting its full weight behind the UK vehicle scrappage scheme, which will not only boost sales but will also bring positive employment and environmental benefits too, " said Nigel Sharp, Ford Britain managing director. "Ford's substantial backing of subsidized vehicle scrapping helps to secure the 100,000 auto industry jobs in the UK dependant on our company, dealerships and suppliers."
