2009 Toyota Prius-II – Available for less than $21,000 today yet offers 46 mpgUS combined for the “average” driver ;)

Minneapolis, MN. -- The makers of Red Baron, Freschetta and Tony's pizzas named 66-year-old Winfield, West Va. resident Houston Roberts, Jr., as the grand prize winner of the "Fuel-Up the Family" spring promotion.

Roberts, who is retired, recently learned he was the grand prize winner and picked up his 2009 Toyota Prius-II at the Bert Wolfe Toyota dealership in Charleston, West Va. Thousands of consumers nationwide entered the Internet-driven promotion for a chance to win a Prius and more than 1,000 other Instant Win prizes including gas for a year, pizza for a year and gas gift cards. The makers of Red Baron, Freschetta and Tony's pizzas sponsored the mega event, "Fuel-Up The Family", to provide consumers an opportunity to fuel up their families with great deals on pizzas while at the same time giving them a chance to win a fuel-efficient Toyota(R) Prius(R) hybrid car along with other valuable prizes to help them stretch their families' budgets.

"I enter contests all the time," said Roberts. "I'm retired and play on the computer a lot." He and his wife enjoy Red Baron Pepperoni pizza with their grandchildren so he purchased a Red Baron Pepperoni pizza and saw the "Fuel-Up The Family" promotion on the packaging which piqued his interest. He, his wife and grandchildren ate the pizza and he then logged onto his computer to enter the UPC code from the specially marked pizza package and played the Instant Win game. When Roberts learned on the website that he had won the Prius, he was stunned and believed it was true only after he was contacted by company officials.

"At first, I thought I probably won a pizza or something and I could not believe I had actually won the car," said Roberts. "My wife was at the dentist and I couldn't call her so I called my daughters and everyone was very excited." Roberts was not familiar with the Toyota so he looked it up on the Internet and was very pleased to learn it is a hybrid that gets 48 to 50 miles per gallon. He even went to a local dealership to see a Prius in person.

Roberts is getting used to being a celebrity in his small town. People want to shake his hand because they have never known anyone before who won anything like this. "I am thrilled to death that I won the car," said Roberts, "and I appreciate the contest. It was one of those things where you never really think you are going to win and then you do!"

I entered that stupid game :p. The UPC is the same on every box of the same item, so I thought it was a fluke. o well.

What a great prize. Usually the cars they give away in these contests seem to be FSP.

I ate all that pizza for nothing!! Ok, I would have eaten it anyway, but it was more fun when I thought I might when a car!
