http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/../photos/data/2/AmericanFlag.jpg Adrian Perez will dread being asked in an interview: "How did you leave your last job?" Yes - he was fired from VIA Metropolitian Transit, like two other drivers. (http://www.11alive.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=129660&catid=3)

Thank you DamionK for the find!

"It's the scariest thing ever," said Hummel. "I mean, I was in tears. I really was in tears having to watch it again [on tape] and relive it." - Jo Hummel, who suffered neck and back injuries when the bus collided"

"I think it's horrible," says Crystal King.

"I think it's down right appalling," adds Mario Flemings.

Those reactions Wednesday from some metro Atlanta area drivers to video of a San Antonio, Texas city bus driver texting for 6 minutes before slamming his bus into the rear of an suv.

The driver and two disabled bus passengers were uninjured, but the woman driving the suv suffered neck and back injuries.

Video taken by cameras on board the bus is circulating all over the internet, showing the obvious dangers of texting and driving.... http://www.11alive.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=129660&catid=3

At least they got it on camera; there's no getting out of this one.

Me? I think it's just plain criminal. The bus driver should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and do serious jail time. A message needs to be sent (and I don't mean texted) to every driver out there that safety is the first priority behind the wheel, and if you don't believe that, then be prepared for the consequences, in the form of jail time and punishing legal action to separate you from your assets.

I'd say its almost a funny video, except for seriousness of the crash and the unsurprising report of the SUV drivers injuries.

You can remove the link from the original message here. Its dead, but searching youtube for "texting bus driver crash" will bring up plenty of live links.

Here is the really sad thing. While not impossible, its very unlikely that this was this guy's first instance of texting on the job. When they install cameras like this, they need to monitor them and take action before the crash. That should include handing the video over to police for prosecution. If I owned/operated this bus line, I'd be very ******. That my bus, and I was paying this guy for 8 hours of professional driving. Not splitting his time. If he wants to text on his breaks, go for it, but not when he is doing a job he is getting paid for.
