View Full Version : High speed FAS nearly ends in disaster

First off, high speed in this case is only about 12 mph. It's relative. I mistimed a light and should have been doing ~3 mph at that point. I got you to read this thread though. "Low speed FAS nearly ends in fender bender" doesn't grab you quite the same way. :D

So as I was FASing up to some parked cars at a red light, someone passed me two lanes over. He saw the stopped cars, hit his brakes, and cut over two lanes directly in front of me. His double lane change was abrupt, at a sharp angle, he didn't signal, and he didn't check for traffic. I realized what he was doing in time and laid into the horn as I hit the brakes. I got within about two feet of hitting his door. I would have been pretty mad if it were on an uphill, but fortunately it was a slight downgrade. I took my foot off the brake and let gravity accelerate me up to about 1 mph before stopping again directly behind him at the light.

cheater :D. At least no one got hurt though. With the way people drive these days I'm still amazed how many are still around to do so.
