RPM to MPH in 5th Gear
Using a tape measure for the diameter of the rear tire:
1 Rev of the crank = [(Pi)*(Tire diameter in inches)]/[(Internal gear ratio)*(Transmission fifth gear ratio)*(Sprocket gear reduction)]
1 Rev = [(3.142)*(27”)]/[(2.029)*(0.840)*(3.00)] = 16.6 inches. 1,000 RPM = (16,600 inches/min) * (60 min/hr) * (1 foot/12 inches) * (1 mile/5,280 feet) = 15.7 mph
1,000 RPM = 15.7 mph
2,000 RPM = 31.4 mph
3,000 RPM = 47.1 mph
4,000 RPM = 62.8 mph
5,000 RPM = 78.5 mph
6,000 RPM = 94.2 mph
7,000 RPM = 109.9 mph
MAX speed is ~ 105 mph.
Engine Break-in specs
During the first 300 miles -- avoid full-throttle starts and rapid acceleration.
2009 Honda XR 650L Maintenance, Intervals and Costs
A bike needs more preventative care than a car or truck. In particular, the XR’s maintenance schedule asks for an oil change at 600 miles and every 2,000 miles thereafter plus valve adjustment inspection at 600 miles, 4,000miles and each additional 4,000 miles thereafter. Additionally, a host of minor items require checking and adjustment at each and every interval. A $200 charge takes care of these items every 2,000 miles at Motorcycle shops in the Chicago suburbs. You can expect tire replacements at 8,000 mile intervals costing roughly $195.00 for a pair. The Chain can be expected to last at least 24,000 miles -- replacements are $150+ (including labor).
