2010 Honda Insight-II - $19,800 to start and 41 mpgUS combined on the 08 EPA. Only 2,096 sold in its first full sales month.

Honda as a whole posted April vehicle sales of 101,029, a decline of 25.3 percent compared to the April 2008 sales period the company reported today. Honda Division posted April sales of 92,216, a decline of 24.5 percent compared to April 2008.

As a standard spin to today’s results, Honda appeared to be upbeat and by comparison to the rest of the industry, they should be.

"Overall sales are, by far, the highest we have seen so far this year," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "The Honda lineup represents a unique combination of fun, versatile and efficient cars with great resale that deliver at a time when consumer purchases are more calculated than ever."

Honda Division total car sales decreased by 17.7 percent, to 61,778. Honda Division light-truck sales decreased 35.4 percent, to 30,438. Notably, the division posted four individual vehicle records in April 2008, as sales were up 1.4 percent in an industry down 7.2 percent.

The Acura Division posted sales of 8,813, a decline of 32.3 percent compared to April 2008. The TL performance luxury sedan led the division with sales of 3,105, and the redesigned TSX sports sedan year-to-date sales of 9,684 are up 5.7 percent.

Insights are not selling here. My dealer is at $388 above invoice on there load. Another dealer I was at has resorted to putting large graphics letters on the door that spells out H Y B R I D just above the belt line. Looks dumb as can be.

I'm kinda disappointed. They should have tuned it to get higher mileage. I know that I could get well over that EPA, but for the general public, it sucks.

Not quite. On that vehicle, HYBRID is an acronym for Heard Your Behemoth's Resale Is Dismal :D

It DOES get higher mileage. This was with just a little over 100 miles on the car. It is no where near broke in. Look at the temp also. That pic was taken at 3:30am the night we got the car.

KYJIMBO has just had his since Monday and raised his commute from the low 40's to low 50's yesterday. The ECO button makes it easy to get much better than EPA. I wonder if the EPA testing used the ECO button any or maybe just 50%.

Hi Mike:

___The ECO buttons on both the Insight-II and Prius-III cannot be used during the EPA test cycles so whatever they offer is gravy over and above the EPA ratings :)

___Good Luck

That explains it then. Anyone should be able to smoke the EPA numbers. My daughter has drove it to school all week and around town. Lots of 1 and 2 mile trips and the tank is still over 43 mpg.

The ECO button has not been off since we've had it.
