View Full Version : Meet my ride
Die2self 04-27-2009, 02:18 PM Here is my ride,
Ordered from the Factory in Jan 1997 received Mar 1997 with 11 miles on it.:D
1997 Dodge Dakota SLT 3.9L V6 Club cab 4X4
Airaid intake and throttle body spacer
Tekstyle soft bed cover
Factory Bed liner and Aluminum step rails
Manual 5sp
I have removed the front mud flaps as I don't need them in MO as the steps used to get all sorts of Snow and ice in them in Northern WI where we lived for 9 years (where we bought and why we bought the truck) it has helped a little with FE.
Factory sized 235/75-15's on (Cooper Discovery HT's on now) at 42 PSI all around. (max sidewall is 35)
0-30W moble1 oil in it now.

I have the SG sitting on top of the Dash so it is in line of sight of the road. I just unplug it after use and take it with me.:D
Now MR Pancake has something to see in his minds eye when he is beating me with is MPG's:eyebrow:
MT bucket 05-06-2009, 11:23 PM Nice looking truck Jason!
Die2self 05-07-2009, 02:42 PM Thanks Michael. It cleans up nice, but the clear coat has all but peeled off the top and is retreating on the hood. I think it had to do with the wisconsin and minnisota winters the first 7 years of its life and a botched job to buff of some cement sealer, that they City of Duluth over sprayed all over the top of it. I think they wore off much of the clear coat buffing it out. It I keep it for a few more years I may take it to get a new paint job. Maybe add a silver top melting down to the black on the way down the truck. ;)
Now if I can win the lottery, oh yeah, you have to buy tickets
You will have to post you new truck in the gallery soon. Look foward to your new numbers in the "Ranger of the north!".:D
nervousmini 05-07-2009, 11:33 PM Your truck looks great. I'll have to look into a set of those grill blocks - or try to make some myself. It sounds like you and me swapped addresses, went to college in Springfield, MO and then moved to Kenosha, WI - go figure.
Taliesin 05-08-2009, 08:13 AM Where did you get those grill blocks? I've been looking around a little bit but I can't seem to find them for a Ranger.

I looked on the Lund website and it doesn't look like they make the grill blocks for the Blazer or the Ranger.
Time to break out the cardboard and xacto set to get a template and make em myself.
Die2self 05-08-2009, 10:54 PM I noticed that the last time I went looking because of posts on this site. And they have them for FSP but not rangers or most smaller SUV or PU's. I wonder if calling LUND might spur them on to make them? Other wise I have seem some very good ones on the sight here that don't look like they were to expensive but look sharp.
not bad for for a 12 yr old truck, but it is staring to show it in some places. :(
JusBringIt 05-09-2009, 12:15 AM Nice truck. Make sure to keep that baby for full use. Don't wanna have to go out and spend money getting another if you break this one :)
MT bucket 05-09-2009, 12:52 AM as hot as my truck runs i doubt I will be blocking the grill, mabye put some cardboard inside next winter..
Jason i will post some pics next week. it is a plain pickup really, but at least it doesn't need duct tape to hold it together! hehe
Die2self 05-09-2009, 08:25 PM michael,
nothing wrong with a little duct tape :D They make it in all sorts of colors now, so now you can be creative with it. ;)
MT bucket 05-09-2009, 11:48 PM Duct tape is like the Force, it has a light side, the Dark side, and it holds the universe together!
Die2self 05-11-2009, 02:15 PM That is great michael :biglol:

Also known as the Miraculous Ribbon of Saint Tenacious.
I wouldn't worry that much about the heat on that ranger. It runs hotter than other vehicles (265 for those that haven't follwed some other threads), but it keeps the temp down to 265 VERY well. The Ranger does its very best to get the temp up to 265, but once it is there is won't go any higher (full grill block, going up a nasty hill, I actually hit 268 once).
I still have half the radiator blocked right now and it is doing fine (it was a full block made of cardboard I forced between the grill and radiator, but it's gotten wet a few times and sagged).
