Yep, The wife and I are riding in together again.

Last time we did this it saved a boat load of gas. But I lost it in traffic, over traffic around her office.

She enjoys us commuting together. She gets to sleep!

This morning was the first time in a long time for me to drive the Accord any distance. The SG is in the Civic. So I was flying blind in the Accord. Its still a fine auto minus the 5AT. Its manors are wonderful. It was a joy to FAS such a fine coasting car.

Laura says she has been keeping the milage log current for the car. I will look into it at a later date. I will be very suprised if she has managed EPA.

O well,, Heres to saving gas/money, less over all miles on the car and quality time with my sleeping wife.

Great idea -- you're saving more than gas. Even if you get OK mileage in the Accord, it evens-out with the extra passenger, and you get quality time :) (although unconscious -- how can wives sleep in the car so easily? Mine passes out all the time).

even thoughb i'm sure the civic is as areodynamic as your accord but i think maybe the accord has better equipped tires? I mean the civic is all about grip... maybe changing the tires on the civic should improve its coasting ability?

still boggles me that mid-size sedans coasts better than small cars.

It's all about weight. Accords coast for miles because they are heavier than a Civic, and the momentum helps to keep it moving.

Brick is right.

There is the weight component and the aero. The Accord is a good package weight and aero wise for a good coaster. Then couple that with the low end grunt of the I4 Accord over the Civic and you have a winner. The low end torgue found in the Accord comes at a price with a 2.4l engine.
