I was curious what everyone had as an average on thier car when they bought it (if you bought used) and what it is now?
I just noticed after my last couple of 750 mile trips I was able to increase my avg:
The car came with 13,884 miles avg when I got the car was 46.8 MPG
I'm now at nearly 15k miles and the average has jumped dramatically to 49.5 MPG.

Sorry... Don't have a car I bought used. Or a vehicle with a manufacturer built FCD.
However, the Ranger was getting 26-29 depending on the season before I started hypermiling.

My Honda Civic CX originally got about 49 mpg per tank in the summer and 44 mpg in the winter. It currently gets tanks in the low 70's (summer) and mid 60's (winter).

I don't remember exactly what the lmpg on my 2000 Insight was when I bought it used in 2001, but it had 4488 total miles on it and the lmpg was in the low 40s. I gassed the car today and the lmpg is 81.5 and the odometer is showing 129591. I have averaged 94+mpg the last three years and even with that the lmpg comes up very slowly.....Louis

I have a Toyota not a Honda and bought new but I have noticed the difference.
At ~2,000 miles I had a 2 mpg increase (42 mpg to 44 mpg) and at ~7,500 I had a 2 mpg increase (45 mpg to 47 mpg). It was very sudden and very noticeable. No change in route or driving techniques but a noticeable increase in power. For example: on one commute section I would need to be going 55 MPH and 30 impg (using the SG2) to make a hill. Suddenly I could make the same hill at 55 mph but the impg reading would be upper 30’s.
Following my log I can see small improvements in groups of tanks, say for every 3 or 4 tanks I improve .2 or .5 mpg. Then there are the 2 spots where there is this noticeable jump. I’m hoping the next one comes soon!!

Car had a lmpg of 55.9 in 66,800miles when bought. Ticked up .2 after first tank but then only occasionally to it's current reading of 56.8. My tank average over 9212miles is 64.5mpg.
edit: well a week later the lmpg reads 57.1 but the last fillup knocked me back out of just achieved skilled status, dang it.
