Just did a poll on most hated company in America, so let's talk about the most admired company in America on this one.

This might help: World's Most Admired Companies 2009 - from FORTUNE (http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/mostadmired/)

Southwest Airlines definitely deserves to be on that list.

Southwest Airlines definitely deserves to be on that list.

I'm not sure I care for that list. It helps a little, but it's too focused on financial concerns for me.

Tesla is another one to put on the list.

I second the Apple computer vote...

I'm thinking maybe Ford.I'll second that. They have really shown their colors as of late with the refusal of all the bail-out package.

I'd also add some of the small start-ups like Hymotion.

I was thinking Starbucks, but you do have to consider making a profit and lately they have taken a dive. :(

Boeing seems like one of the better ones.

Google and Amazon?

It's a tie for me. Victorias Secret and Trojan Condoms. Just a personal choice, new g.f. probably has something to do with it. It was a cold lonely winter. :D - Dale

One of the micro-loan companies? (Not Title or cash advance loans, micro-loans)

:D you're too funny guy.

I'd say APtera, but their gov't assistance is going to GM because their car only has four wheels...can you believe it? One wheel decided that the money was going into the crap bucket vs. a smart investment in the future.

Apple Computer has my vote too, plus LL Bean and REI in the midsized category. A bunch of smaller outfits also: JL Racing (rowing apparel), Aerostich (motorcycle stuff). Seems it's easier for smaller outfits to keep their focus on what they are trying to do.

Something to keep in mind when considering investments...

I have no respect for most American company's. They seem to spend more time micro managing stuff, being lazy and focusing on marketing to cover up there top heavy positions and farming college grad rats that don't do much.

We use to be able to build produce, invent and market what ever we wanted or needed. Now we can't even build a car right. Or did we ever do that right? And everybody wants everybody else to wipe there ass.

Just take Maytag or Whirlpool. Let me tell you. My new Maytag washer and dryer is a fricking joke compared to the 30 year old Classic series we replaced. It takes Whirlpool weeks to figure out what pump they want. When the last one worked for 30 years. So why not replace the old one with one just like it with a more effective motor walk away and forget about it for 30 years. No we can't do that. The bean counters, college boys to the want to be union all have to have meetings over it. As they waste thousands of dollars stroking each other. Of which we will all pay for. The savior is Obama yeah know.

My favorite (world) company is definitely Ryanair based out of England in Europe. Every time I've booked a flight with them I've been amazed at how much I've had to pay for it. Traveling around Europe on 20 Euro flights is great! Southwest doesn't compare for cheap flights!

Funny, i would put Apple on the list for most hated..:o
Anyway, i would nominate Costso. They are proof that you can take care of your employees, pay them good wages, treat them as family, and still make a fair profit.

You know that Maytag doesn't really exist anymore...They're re-badged Whirlpools since they were bought out.

The story I've heard from former Maytag guys is that bean-counters took over corporate and maximized short-term profits by not investing in new product development--eventually the market caught on and Maytag couldn't get a premium price for a product that no longer beat the competition. The brand name was still worth something to Whirlpool though .....

Set up a poll now.

I may be the one that nominated Ford, but I had to vote for Aptera.

Ford waited too long to bring all this out. I applaud them for getting good hybrids out this soon (and not taking bailout money), but they could have done it a little sooner.

I voted Ford.

Most Americans would too from that list, but I really want Aptera to be the most successful company in America for the next 100 years running. - Dale

Too funny. Taliesin.

If it was limited to large corporations, I would definately vote for Ford.

Originally, I just wasn't thinking about the small guys.

Yeah... Give me good information and I will change my mind.

Taliesin,
I meant in this dance, we swapped partners. I'm highly impressionable with a good argument too.

I have NO problem saying the first thing that comes to mind and then after getting more info adjusting. If'n ya'll ain't noticed. :D - Dale
