A co-worker just bought a Harley-Davidson 1200 that looks something like this (http://www.arbutusvfd.org/images/Pictures/TrainGarden/Harley_1200A.jpg) (something like this). Unfortunately, it rained that day and while he made it home dry, it had him very concerned as his 25-mile commute is essentially the same heavy urban trek as mine.

He talked about getting a motorcycle's license is no snap - got to take a course and demonstrate you are an alert driver.

Yesterday, we were discussing low-traffic routes home and concluded none existed at 5pm in the North of Dallas area. :( (just like LA and much of the East Coast) I ran across another guy with a similar bike and we talked.

I strongly related to these two motorcycle drivers:

We all wanted to drive away from agressive drivers.
Keep our eyes wide open.
Bounced on and off the freeway access roads when intersections can be avoided so we can go under the pack speed safely...
Seen drivers that we don't exist in our driving space.
