I had just warmed up my lunch and I got the call to go outside @ ~15:00.

"The HI-2s are here!"

My lunch was somehow still lukewarm when I finished taking pictures and giving Wayne the Play-by-Play. (It was a ham and swiss sandwich, so it was perfect.)

Hi all;

To add to all the commotion and excitement, I've uploaded the PDI service literature so that if you are one of those waiting on a brand spanking NEW 2010 Insight you can get an appreciation of the PDI work checklist the dealer is supposed to follow.

You can find it here for you downloading and reading pleasure
(http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=48)
Enjoy

If only the nearest Honda dealer wasn't an hour and a half away...

Checkered Flag in Virginia Beach received four Insights on Tuesday. Mostly EX's. And the salesman was kind enough to let me sit in an LX today and start it up. Unfortunately, they were tucked away in their "cage" and far from road-ready, so start-up and pushing buttons was as far as I got. They're holding one of the EX's for test-driving and selling the rest. Hopefully it's ready this weekend!

The Honda dealer here in Everett,Washington (Klein Honda)received 6 yesterday.Just off the truck and not prepped yet.Not that it's a bad car by any means....but it made me appreciate my 5 speed Insight even more.

Well, my Insight II was built on the 20th and is on a boat somewhere floating across the Pacific now, with an expected delivery by April 10th or so. At least the demo has arrived at my dealer and I'll be able to drive it tonight.

From my experiance, I wouldn't call it floating, My HCHII felt like it took longer to cross the country than it did to cross the ocean. These first HI2s came even faster than my car, as if on some kind of express plan. I'm just glad it was undamaged, b/c the wait for a(nother) replacement would have been tough.

The car I'm driving now was a duplicate for a car that never showed up, it crossed the ocean and fell off the map according to the tracker.

The dealership told me that my HIII should be here the first week of April and that it was built on the 15th, but it arrived today! So hopefully that means yours will be arriving sooner too, Greenrider :).

Honda is like that sometimes, My car got here about a week before the original, also a week before the original disappeared.

I drove both versions today. I was able to test drive a new LX and a used HI 5 speed. The salesman did not know much about the new car (thought the car was off when the tach was reading ~1k). Nice car compared to a 2003 HCH, very spacious and the controls are set up nice and close. I really wish that the new car was offered in a manual though I saw that the EX had paddle shifters.

I finally got to test drive the EX demo Thursday. Managed 47 mpg with 3 people in the car and an average of 30 mpg from the previous driver (I don't know how you could possibly get that low with this car). At least I got 5 leaves with a 7 mile drive. The Eco assist feature with the green to blue coloring is a great feature for the average driver. I'm quite impressed so far and looking forward to my own.

With all the excitement of the arrival in the USA, I had to drive one today. I drove an EX demo. It was all that Wayne said it was. I drove a little over 3 mile loop. 1st loop was in the regular mode and i got 46.4 with 4 people in the car. The second lap I put it in the Econ mode. I had 150mpg on it for about .3 mile and I thought the salesman was going to freak. On the first lap I was impressed that he asked me if I was a "hypermiler". I ended up at 52 mpg because I tried out the paddle shifter and played with the blue/green light. The car was great to drive. Nice ride, handled well and I liked the instrumentation. It was raining and I had a fogging issue which the climate control layout made it a snap to cycle the defrost off/on.

So, about the middle of April, a white ex will be in our drive.

I hope so...I'm told mine got pushed to the back of the production line b/c it has a navi. Even though I'm the first on the list at my dealer, I'm the last one to get the car.

It's all good, though. I still have to clear out a space in the garage for it!

I got mine yesterday! Now I need to know how to log my mileage so you guys can see how I'm doing... mind you, I'm not an advanced hypermiler. On my way home, (about a two hour drive) I only managed to get 49.1 mpg. I hope that'll get better. I did have to climb a few hills and used the paddle shifters a couple times. It has SO much power with the paddle shifters, something ppl were afraid it wouldn't have. But I'm so loving it!

49.1 is VERY good for a brand new car with 40/43/41 mpgUS city/highway/combined on the 08 EPA. You will have much better FE once it goes through a break-in period.

Well, that's good to know :). I was getting worried a little bit. I think once I figure out all the bells and whistles and stop messing around with it so much, I'll be able to maintain at LEAST 50 mpg. I'm hoping for better!

As I said, you have done outstanding for the first tank. Do you have a Scangauge? After you get used to the car and it gets broke in, it could give you an extra edge.

My 2006 HCH II, with essentially the same engine/CVT, took ~35000 miles to fully "break in," after which it showed a noticable improvement in mpg. Almost 50 mpg is great for a brand new Insight.

My daughter insisted on white. We could have gotten blue or silver that day.

The Scangauge II (http://www.scangauge.com/) is a valuable tool if you wish to get yet your mileage to your goal and keep it there. It makes it possible to keep your driving style much more consistent to reach even higher levels. As a member here at CleanMPG, you qualify for the group buy price. (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=165270).

The instrumentation on the Insight II makes it much easier to keep it in the economical mode, but I'm sure the Scangauge will help much more.

I took it on a little 13.5 mile loop around my town (mostly rural streets, only a few stops) and I managed to squeeze out 63.1 mpg! So I think I'm on track. Although, I wouldn't want to be driving behind me :). I almost wanted to get the white instead, the white looks really sharp! But the blue was here now, and they couldn't even tell me if they had a white ordered!

Mine hasn't shown any real changes other than weather induced ones :(, almost 14k miles on the clock.

I probably posted that a day before they called me. LoL. I feel very lucky! Everyone keeps telling me they didn't expect to see it until April, and neither did I!

Not like I am really worried about it since I am not in the market for a new vehicle, but it is rather upsetting that those that are in the market around here can't get one.

Yah, that makes sense. At least available for people to test drive! It may be because I believe my car was dropped off in Portland, OR, and I picked up my car from Grants Pass, OR. So the cars may have to travel on trucks for awhile before they reach Missouri.

That's if they bring any here at all.

Don't you know? No one lives here but farmers and ranchers. They can't use a small car...

Just kidding. The dealer is in a Kansas City suburb.
