I'm looking at getting a used 2000 Insight and was wondering what types of questions I should be asking the dealer? I was mostly worried about the battery and if the car got the software updates. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm trying to move up in the world of FE from my Buick.

Check carefully for any signs of damage repair -- look at the emblem carefully, check the spoilers under the bumpers for cracks. Check the lifetime mileage -- if it is a MT vehicle anything below about 54mpg is a red flag.
You want a car that did not spend its time in the southern US -- excessively high heat can damage the batteries.
Make sure it isn't a salvage title -- you want that 10yr/150K hybrid powertrain (including battery!) warranty!
Make sure there isn't an IMA light on the dash. A high state of charge is a good sign, but low could just mean they don't know what they are doing. Take it for a low speed highway drive and it should come right back up to 19 or 20 of 20 bars.

Check the two connectors on the fender skirts. in the 2000 model they were not painted and prone to corrosion. The software should be upgraded to current levels as this is a recall, though I am not sure if it would be free now. A question to ask is it current on all recall notices. He should say "Yes".
