I read a lenghty article in D Magazine about how scarce water will be in 50 years in Dallas/Fort Worth. If you live in Sourhtern California, the wasteful watering would make you cringe. Creating big new lakes that wipe out part of the piney woods of East Texas is part of the plan. I hope other alternatives can be made, including dredging existing lakes....

It takes water to grow ethanol. If water is scarse in many areas now, how can we sustain ethanol?

Sort of off topic, but the PDF booklet at www.stopmarvinnichols.com (http://www.stopmarvinnichols.com/) is people against building this lake. The end of it has good tips for saving water.

I need to assert that if ethanol helps, I support it. My concern is with the additional water and fertilizer, etc, will there be a net gain? Maybe the answer is it can be done, but not corn-based....
