Suzuki RM-Z450 – $7,899 including Fuel-injection (FI) that provides better performance, lower emissions and even better FE when not “On it”.

Brea, CA. -- Suzuki's Chad Reed celebrated his first AMA Supercross victory of the year and the first Supercross win for a fuel-injected motocross bike – the Suzuki RM-Z450 – at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis. Reed and Suzuki followed that victory with another at the AMA Supercross in Daytona, Florida on March 7.

The Suzuki RM-Z450 impressed the racing world by making its mark in history as the first four-stroke motocross motorcycle to win the AMA Supercross Championship in 2006. Adding to its list of achievements, it records being the first mass produced competition motocross motorcycle to utilize fuel injection. The debut win for the RM-Z450 proves the amazing performance that Suzuki advanced fuel injection can provide at the highest level of Supercross competition.

Reed took the holeshot in the 20-lap Indianapolis Main Event - run in front of more than 61,000 fans – and put on an impressive performance to take the win over James Stewart, who crashed twice but remounted to finish second with third place finisher Rockstar Makita Suzuki teammate Mike Alessi completing the podium on his fuel injected RM-Z450 as well.

“The fuel injected Suzuki RM-Z450 is such an amazing bike. Throttle response on the bike is instant coming out of the corners and gives me the added confidence when I need it the most.”

My question is: now that fuel injected bikes are coming to the mainstream in the bike market, how long do you think that it will take before direct injection comes to bikes as it has come to automobile engines?

Fuel injection has come to dirt bikes. My old '86 BMW K75 had fuel injection, as does my
'03 BMW R1150RT, so fuel injection is not new to motorcycles.

Direct injection on a motorcycle? I don't know; maybe 5 years?
