Two tanks left of summer. Sooo depressing.

Meh. Winter is depressing enough without considering the crappy FE. Time to move south.

Correct me if I'm wrong (which I generally am), but did all states switch-over to the Winter Blend of Ethanol instead of MTBE, all year? I think they did here (in KC).

You know. I'm not sure. I know they switched to ethanol instead of mtbe, but I though that summer blends also use mtbe.

Two tanks left of summer. Sooo depressing.I don't know when we switch back to normal fuel, but all you have to do is buy a series of large barrels and fill them with enough (cheap) normal fuel to last through the winter.

Moving South might not be enough. Here in El Paso, TX they switch to a Winter blend in mid fall.

That may be true, but if I can get away from the snow, ice, and single digit temps I'll stand a better chance of staying sane. TO heck with my FE, I just don't like winter!

___Tom, even though mid September is the switchover date, the mix in the tanks slowly crosses over so you can probably see a good week or two before the winter blend is total. Not that it helps much but E10 based summer and winter blend RFG has been killing us for years already :(

___Rich, there are winter and summer blends of RFG and straight gas but MTBE was banned in at least 19 of the 50 states by late 04. Both NY and CA. were the biggies which knocked the market on its head … Here in IL., MTBE disappeared in 99 and E10 took its place fully with 9 - 10% concentration from that year forward. I believe the rest of the NE is still considering the pull out but they have nothing to replace it with … Just not enough Ethanol in the country? There was an awful spike in Ethanol this summer with all the scrambling to pull MTBE from other state markets but that has since subsided thank goodness. It took a while to find that stuff ;)

Here in Madison I see several BP stations that prominently promote the fact that they do not have ethanol in their summer gas.
One is right around the corner from where I work.

___You are outside of the EPA’s non-attainment zone and they can do as they well fit out there :p Well, within reason as they do have to follow the fed regs on base stock.
