I would definitely consider that scheme for a prius or insight. The civic hybrid is not "hybridy" enough in it's exterior design or technology to justify the leafy treatment IMHO.

I think smaller leaves would be nicer. I was thinking along the lines of flame leaves, but a vendor I tried to talk to stopped talking to me when I asked him about price.
