One of my friends who works for the City of Moline is getting a Fusion Hybrid as his work vehicle. He is definitely an SUV/pickup kind of guy but said he was OK with the car when he saw it wasn't "tiny like hybrids usually are."
Anyhow, the newspaper article about the purchase isn't available online but here (http://www.moline.il.us/government/agendas_pdf/021009COWAgenda.pdf) (warning: PDF) is the data the City presented when voting on the decision. Of general interest is that the City gets three cars for $25,161.98 each before rebate. I would've liked to have seen details of their lifecycle cost analysis comparisons, but they only gave the bottom line result that it was 2 cents per mile cheaper than the nearest competitor considered suitable.
