I'm mad! Is it just me? Tell me if I'm losing it. Today I parked in front of the building so I wouldnt have to make three point turns to come back out, and if it so happens that I'm the last one out, I can leave without having to stop and shut my car off (after exiting), coming back to close the gate, then restart my car and be on my way:

We have a 3/4 inch of SLUSH on the ground and I have to move my car so they could plow... what??? it's 34 deg out and will get up to 37 and stay this way all day, but will cool down after sundown. Tell me, am I crazy? or is it really ridiculous to be moving 12 cars to plow 3/4" of slush, need I mention that there were spots that didn't even have snow because it was already melted? I'll have pics later when they can be uploaded.

Is it in a slot or on the road?

Be glad they are getting rid of it. Some of the counties up here seem to be low/out of salt again and it was an interesting drive in today.

3/4 inches of slush comes closer to 3/4 inces of water/ice than snow. If you want to think in terms of snow, think 6 to maybe 12 inches. It might melt away during the day, but if it doesn't, there is going to be a pad of ice down tonight/tomorrow.

parking lot at work. There are two, one in the front, one in the back. I think most of the snow is melted by now, there are huge puddles outside, so I'm sure they didn't really make much of a difference.

As long as it's wet, ice is inevitable in the lower temps. black ice!

Tell me about parking anger at work! We have parking for about 300 and most are the nose to nose. Last year I started parking and pulling through so I could drive straight away. I had a "parking notice" on my car. When I talked to security they told me it was't proper to park like that. I argued the reasoning and even talked to their supervisor where the edict came from. A sarcastic response was all I got. I now park on a front row that I can pull straight out into the roadway. The disadvantage is that it is a couple of hundred feet farther away from the gate.

It's alligator and big ugly scary spider repellent.

They have a written policy on the orientation of your car??? I don't know how you guys do it, working for large institutions/companies. My DNA is just not wired for the kind of silly stuff that comes with it. Something like that notice isn't worth the battle, but I'm usually too stupid to let it go.

I have to be careful how I approach "unwritten policies" since I am in management. We are getting ready to go through major construction and the parking lots are being moved. I have already talked with higher powers about including charging station infrastructure and am putting a proposal together which will address parking orientation IN WRITING!

Mike, that is ridiculous. I've gotten a couple of notices on my Insight because I leave it as far out from the curb as I can while still legally within the slot -- specifically so that I don't have one of those big trucks obscuring me enough that I get a dent from an over-enthusiastic "Here's an open spot!!!" driver.

I just throw them away and keep on doing it. :o

Parking is not as big an issue as it is made out to be in most places, I can understand hoarding in a busy place, handicap spot parking, curb parking, completely-missing-the-spot parking, but as long as your car is in the spot not offending anyone else...why should it matter the facing? Don't cars go backwards AND forwards?

University of South Carolina has a head-in parking policy written down. The parking passes are on the rear window, so it makes bureaucratic sense.

Well done, but I'm not sure I'd want to supervise a whole department full of guys like you (or like me).;)
