2009 Ford Fiesta Econetic – One of the most fuel efficient automobiles available anywhere at 63.6 mpgUS on the NEDC. Approximately 52 mpgUS on the 08 EPA.
Brentwood, UK -- The Ford Fiesta was Britain's most popular car in January, the third successive month it has topped the UK's sales charts.
Despite a depressed UK automobile marketplace with the industry suffering sales declines of over 30 percent vs. the same period a year ago, Fiesta sales were up by 28.3 percent in January. To go along with the Fiesta’s January sales success, it was declared the 2009 European Car of the Year (cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18950) by WhatCar.
According to the latest sales figures, the Ford Ka, Fiesta, Focus and Galaxy were all sales leaders in their segments.
The ever-strengthening appeal of Ford's new car range was reflected in an 18.7 percent share of January's car market – up 2.4 points from January of 2008.
Nigel Sharp, Ford of Britain managing director, said: "Our aim of prioritizing retail growth is paying off, buoyed by the new Ford small car range. New Ford Ka arrived last month, joining Fiesta to offer the combination of style, value and economy which private buyers are looking for more than ever."
The European Ford Focus continued to hold onto its number two sales position in January.
