Is there any reason why the RSS feeds from CleanMPG don't have summaries?

Every other site seems to have the first few sentances of the post in the RSS feed, except CleanMPG.com.

We did nothing to the rss feeds so what ever way they work is the default. I can look and see if I can find some settings to make them work the way you mention.

By the way, the RSS feed option attracted me as a new member to the site, and is a great way to keep up with new items without spending a lot of time. Summaries would definitely be a time saver and could attract more members. Thanks!

The summaries are in the RSS 2.0 feed (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/external.php?type=RSS2) (but not in the RSS 0.91 feed (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/external.php?type=RSS)), but the RSS 2.0 feed isn't in the autodiscovery of http://www.cleanmpg.com/. This can be fixed by adding the following to that web page's <head>...</head> section:

<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="CleanMPG Forums RSS 2.0 Feed" href="http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/external.php?type=RSS2" />

You might also consider adding a direct link on http://www.cleanmpg.com/ to both feeds for people with RSS readers that don't support autodiscovery.

Hi Traal:

___I do not follow the RSS feeds but with what goes up and what do you see? Every thread or just those Tom has setup for automatic upload previously.

___Tom will be on this in the very near future of course given my understanding of this technology and its capability is infantile at best ...

___Good Luck

Now that you mention it, I can't tell how the items on either feed relate to each other. They aren't all from the same forum. For example, here are the most recent items in the "RSS" (RSS 0.91) feed:

Here are the most recent items in the "RSS2" (RSS 2.0) feed:

The 1.3L is rated for 34/51 mpgUS on the Euro Urban/Extra Urban metrics. It is fuel efficient but its 14.0 seconds to 60 is lacking....

So they are posts from different forums, and they don't match each other.

So it looks like what we want for the autodiscovery are this RSS 0.91 feed (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/external.php?type=rss&forumids=20) and this RSS 2.0 feed (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/external.php?type=rss2&forumids=20).

<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="CleanMPG Forums RSS 0.91 Feed" href="http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/external.php?type=rss&forumids=20" />
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="CleanMPG Forums RSS 2.0 Feed" href="http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/external.php?type=rss2&forumids=20" />

I think the difference is that one feed did all threads, while the other did just news threads.

o.k. guys I'm going to show my ignorance here.
How did you set up the rss feeds for CleanMPG?

With all the great news that is on this site I would like to have a feed for it.

Plus I would like to promote the feed to others who want "the best of the best".
