Hello:

I just joined here and am also a member of GreenHybrid.com I have a brand-new 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid, and a 2003 VW Jetta TDI (manual 5-speed). I joined both groups to learn how to get the most from my new hybrid, and to share experiences and learn from other drivers who also want high MPG from their vehicles.

Glad to be here!

Hi ShellyD:

___Welcome to CleanMPG and I hope you find exactly what you are looking for. I am sure you have already read Tarabell’s great article Adapting Basic Hypermiling Techniques to the HCH-II ( http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1306). Taking Tarabell’s techniques and melding them into the basic and advanced versions listed in the Beating the EPA - The Why’s and how to Hypermile (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1510) should just about get you to where you want to go …

___Having both a TDI and an HCH-II at your disposal sure makes for an interesting decision depending on the type of drive you might be headed for. Please tell us your viewpoint as to the strengths and weaknesses as you see them over the next few months once you get some more time behind the wheel of the HCH-II …

___Although AL. is not there yet, your great winter temps are certainly going to help all the while us Northerner’s will soon be getting killed because of the colder temps. Hopefully you will never have to deal with snow during your daily grind ;)

___Good Luck and welcome to CleanMPG.

___Wayne

Welcome to cleanmpg Shelly. Hopefully we can use you to find out which techniques work best with the TDI.. We don't have much experience with TDI's specificaly, but a lot of the same techniques work with them as they do with regular gassers. And definately read the articles wayne linked to if you haven't already. You will be amazed at how much your FE will increase in your HCH II.
