I'm on the record saying the Steelers will win Super Bowl 43. Pride is somewhat of a factor as at the start of the season their opponent was supposed to be the Cowboys, but Paris Hilton's Team had complications. ;) There is also the fact I typed my name as a url (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/www.chuckthomas.com) and "discovered" I was a Steeler die hard. :D

I'm still conflicted as who I'd like to win:

Reasons I want the Steelers to win:

They are a model organization, built on teamwork, echewing celebrities - like the Patriots now and the pre-Jerry Jones Cowboys. ;)
Related to the above, the let Plaxico Buress go
Like Big Ben - heck, he was a biker!
Old urban stock urban myth: when original NFL teams win it's a good year for the stock market. When an original AFL teams wins, the stock market is bad. Well, the dot.com boom happened when the Broncos won two SB's and looking at last year's stocks, you would have sworn the Patriots killed the Giants! Steelers and Cardinals are both original NFL teams so never mind.Reasons I want the Cardinals to win:

I like Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald
The underdog thing...anybody can be a champ.....Nooooo! historically the Bidwells are the worst owners in the NFL - it will incite Jerry Jones to mess up the Cowboys instead of following the Rooney's example.
My cats find redbirds tastier than steel workers. :p

NPR, of all stations, had a short story this evening comparing the Steelers and Cardinals organizations. Apparently in the last few years the Cardinals, with some front office changes, have modeled themselves very heavily on the Steelers organization. Ken Whisenhunt and Russ Grimm are obvious examples of this, but there are others, such as how players are managed in such a way as to promote morale and loyalty. Also in draft selections, free agent acquisitions, etc. A shiny new stadium which just hosted a Superbowl doesn't hurt either.

If there's an award for "Best NFL Franchise" I'd still nominate the Steelers. But the Cardinals certainly take "Most Improved".

(DETROIT LIONS, ARE YOU LISTENING?!?)

Oh I forgot - THERE IS ONLY ONE "STEELER NATION". Steeler fans are EVERYWHERE, even where you least expect us (like, say, in Ohio between Cleveland and Cincinnati).
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A "CARDINALS NATION". Not even a flock.
