View Full Version : Driving back from an interview jhu 01-23-2009, 09:56 AM and didn't notice I was low on fuel. Sure enough, the engine stalls and I had to call for help. The tow-truck guy came over and checked out my car for a bit and said I'm out of gas. How embarrassing... vtec-e 01-23-2009, 10:08 AM That is unfortunate! But look on the bright side; now you know how many miles (and gallons) you have on the low fuel light. Assuming you remember when it came on...! ollie jhu 01-23-2009, 11:52 AM 596 miles. I really should be paying more attention to the dashboard cluster. WoodyWoodchuck 01-23-2009, 12:33 PM I’m finding I have to be more aware of the gas gauge also. Going from a vehicle where I would fill-up twice a week to one that I can almost get two weeks out of a tank is dangerous. In the Cherokee I would always look at the gas gauge, ¼ tank a day so you had to be really aware of how much was left. In the Yaris I looked at it for the first few tanks, just to notice when it would change. I have not run out but have had it blinking due to me forgetting. I put myself on a schedule. Every Friday I go to the bank for my weekly allowance, stop at the grocery store for supplies and get gas on the way home. On a short week, or one that I had more than 2 days off I will go the 2 weeks before filling the next Friday. Hypermiling can be dangerous! jhu 01-23-2009, 01:06 PM Well, I'd say mostly embarrassing if the help you call figures out that your car's really out of gas and it's not Volkswagen's fault... Right Lane Cruiser 01-23-2009, 01:07 PM Just be thankful it wasn't something that required you to drive a loaner and deal with the time issues of back and forth at the dealership. We all make "silly" mistakes at one time or another. ;) xcel 01-23-2009, 01:18 PM Hi Jhu: ___That was no mistake; you were just testing its total range capability :) ___No harm and no foul is always a good thing. ___Good Luck ___Wayne kngkeith 01-25-2009, 02:54 PM Hi Jhu: ___That was no mistake; you were just testing its total range capability :) Exactly. Embarrassing is running out on the way TO the interview. Keith Damionk 01-26-2009, 08:32 AM I ran out of gas a few months ago. Being close to a gas station I just pushed it the 1/4 mile. Left the key in the on position so I would get "credit" for that. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
