A while back, the plug of my block heater had been drug on the ground and the prongs were pretty shot. So, after seeing Ben Nelson's nice Marineco plug in for his Metro I had to get me one of those. I ebayed one and took some time tonight to install it.

Here we have the patient for tonight.

Here is the damage done.

I wanted to put the plug in an easily accessible location. The hardest part here was finding a relatively flat surface. This place worked out perfectly. A 1-7/8" hole saw and a few seconds and we had this nice hole punched in the bumper cover.

Next, I cut and stripped the heater's wire. Thankfully the ground was marked and was easily identified on the Marineco plug. I also added dielectric (conductive) grease to everything to prevent help prevent corrosion on the plug and leads.

Last but not least was to tuck it in and tighten things down. It just fits in there, but it fits nice.

Very nice looking installation. Looks like it will be much better than having a cord dangling.

Nice job! I'm at the same thing with my yaris and you've given me more food for thought.

GenVibe owners requested pics when the snow cleared. Well, its not clear, but the wife did run the Matrix through the car wash today. Here are some zoomed out shots of it.

Aether glider, it was really simple. Had it not been 15 degrees out and dark at the time it would have been a 10 minute job. The only tools used for the job was a hole saw, a ratchet (didn't even need a drill to go through the plastic), and a screw driver.

All tucked in ready for warmth in the morning (on a timer of course). :)

Hi Daox:

___Excellent install! Are you sure that is not a Plug-in Hybrid Conversion as the plug install looks just like a PHEV conversion ;)

___Good Luck

Very nice installation. Are the plug, surround, and cover all one unit or did you have to stick them together yourself?

Thanks guys. I wish it was a plug in hybrid! Maybe some day. ;)

The plug is all one piece. There is simply a nut on the back of the flanged piece. On the back of the flange there is a rubber backing to seal it. That rubber piece is also the cap. Here are some pics. You can pick these up at your local boat shop, or in my case I ebayed them since there weren't any real close to my house.
