I will be departing Japan this week, after 20 years living here for a slightly warmer climate, Taiwan. Unfortunately, I had to retire the the 1999 first gen Prius Japan only, NHW10 at 100,000kms, still in perfect working order. Hopefully it will pass on to someone who will use it . As 100,000kms is considered "end of life" in Japan, it was sold for a pittance .
After 2years of trouble free service, this car was the first car to actually pay for itself. The company I worked for refunded commuting gasoline charges at 8km/L, with an actual average of 23.5km/L.,the cost difference was enough to payback the initial purchase cost of $6,500 after 2years, (gasoline at $6/gal also helped).
Best of Luck
