I thought this thing looked like it was made just for the Insight.

You can find out more at www.visualgarage.com

IIRC there are no listings for Hondas on the pull down menu’s, so I had to do my dealings, via email with the sales dept. They had never been able to get an Insight in for evaluation, so I took some details pics and measurements, and again IIRC, they decided the one for the Prius was the most likely fit. I was hoping that it would also cover the rear washer nozzle, since I had removed the rear wiper. However; It would not cover both the radio stub and the washer nozzle(with the nozzle in place), so I removed the rear washer nozzle.

The #26 fuse, in the under-dash fuse box, is pulled. This fuse is for the rear wiper and rear washer motor, per the ETM. The front wiper system is another fuse. The rear washer nozzle is then gently rocked side to side, until it is free. Unplug the hose and plug it with a solid pin of adequate diameter to keep any fluid from seeping out. This should not be a problem now that the fuse is gone. The hose must grip the pin tightly. This plug could be left above the surface of the car body, because the Sharkfin is hollow, but I chose to stuff it back down in the hole, so as to prevent a rattle.

There is absolutely no extra room behind the hole in the roof that the washer nozzle is mounted in, with the Sharkfin in place. When it is placed over the radio stub, and pushed to the rear, it just barely covers the washer nozzle hole. You have to pay the utmost attention when doing the final mounting, or you will be terribly disappointed. I almost didn’t make it. The Sharkfin is stuck on with a 3M gasket, and you won’t be able to start over. I did manage to get it in place, and I think it cleans up the roof line very well.

If you still have the rear wiper system, there would be no problem covering only the radio antenna stub, and there would be a small choice of front to back positions ahead of the washer nozzle with it still in place. I was going to take a picture of the Sharkfin setting in place with the washer nozzle, before I took everything apart, but wifee had the camera at work, and I wanted to get this done.

There are some more pics in the gallery, keyword Sharkfin.

Do you know yet if FM reception is better with the Sharkfin than with the factory antenna?

Don't know about reception yet, I'll check it out. Not much of an audio man, got it for the looks.

It works well on my local stations, which is about all I ever listen to.
