The Karma runs purely on electric power, making for zero running emissions. (http://autos.canada.com/2009Detroit1/story.html?id=3df82400-9e27-450a-a513-97d8d5ab55ea)

Henrik Fisker, the ex BMW and Aston Martin designer and the relatively new CEO of Fisker Coachbuild was buoyant Monday as he introduced his production-ready Fisker Karma plug-in series hybrid luxury car, ready to roll into an expected 40 dealerships before year-end at an unbelievably approachable price point of $87,900 USD.

Fisker hinted that 22 dealers were already on-board, all important ingredients to his goal of 15,000 Karmas delivered per year. According to Fisker, 1,300 Karmas have already been presold with deposits.

Only 12 months from concept to reality the Karma doesn't appear to have changed one iota, which is a good thing as the gracefully penned super sedan is easily one of the most beautifully sculpted cars to come along in years.

Dude, I was wondering the same thing! Market it for 1/3 the price and I'm SO there. :D

Its still possible to buy a very nice home for that price in less expenseive areas, however it seems a fair price for what it is, but it does need to be trimmed down under 30/40k for the mass market. Under 25/30k for the very mass market.

It is a good-looking car. If you are in the market for an Aston Martin (which it slightly looks like), it's a steal! :p

for some reason, I don't believe they care about the mass market. You know that whole deal gm made about trucks bringing in more profit per vehicle than cars?

An exclusive lithium-ion battery pack replaces what would otherwise have been a driveshaft tunnel, improving on the highly polluting nickel metal hydride batteries currently used in today's hybrid cars.

The author is an idiot who still believes the "dust-to-dust" nonsense.

A lot of toys in this category cost $80K or higher, so I guess it could be considered a "cheap" hybrid if you look at it that way...
