I guess Bush isnt very popular in Iraq...

BAGHDAD – On an Iraq trip shrouded in secrecy and marred by dissent, President George W. Bush on Sunday hailed progress in the war that defines his presidency and got a size-10 reminder of his unpopularity when a man hurled two shoes at him during a news conference.
"This is a farewell kiss, you dog!" shouted the protester in Arabic, later identified as Muntadar al-Zeidi, a correspondent for Al-Baghdadia television, an Iraqi-owned station based in Cairo, Egypt.
Bush ducked both shoes as they whizzed past his head and landed with a thud against the wall behind him.
"It was a size 10," Bush joked later.

I was bored :p

As for what I think of what actually happened...say what you want to a person and how you feel, but don't actually try to cause physical harm. It'll only make your situation worse...that was stupid thinking/lack thereof on his part though.

It would have been nice to see at least one of those shoes hit him. You know the guy throwing those shoes, he's probably lost a few family members and friends due to this war.

If that correspondent had tried the same thing at one of Saddam's press conferences, he would have been beat up on the spot by Saddam's thugs, wisked away to one of Saddam's torture chambers for interogation, and then executed and dumped in one of Saddam's unmarked corpse landfills once they had extracted any useful information from him.

In today's post-Saddam Irag, he'll probably spend a few days in prison while being questioned, might get roughed a little in the process, and then released.

Also heard he studied "The Great Ones" so he could be a more sadistic mass murder than those before him.

I thought Bush handled it with Presidential style.

Tip to shoe tosser pick up a chair. Or at least lift some weights and put some juice on it. My 2 year old throws harder than that.

Bush was pretty quick to my surprise.

That's a bid of an odd thing to say. This Iranian-friendly Shiite government is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Sunnis, a near complete ethnic cleansing of Baghdad, and brutal repressions of rival Shiites in Basra and elsewhere.

And there are now reports that the shoe thrower is being tortured. Surprise.

I still think the guy was doing this for attention. Throwing a shoe at Bush will get you better ratings in the long run. After all its chic to hate GWB for Iraqis and Americans alike.

I'm waiting for him to be called a hero in Iraqi and the USA soon. Enjoy your 15 minutes Mr. Shoe tossing metrosexual Iraqi.

EDIT: Many are reported he is a hero...go figure.
